- 3/4 cup pure honey
- 1 cup fresh lemon juice (from about 5 lemons)
- 3 thyme sprigs
- 2 cinnamon sticks
- 3 star anise
- 4 small oranges, cut in half
Directions
- Step 1Combine bourbon, honey, lemon juice, thyme, cinnamon, star anise, and 2 cups water in a medium saucepan. Cook over medium-low heat just until warm, 10 to 15 minutes.
- Step 2Grill orange halves on metal skewers over an open flame (see note) until charred, 1 to 2 minutes. Top drinks with 1 orange half each.
Note: If you want to create this toddy indoors, line a large rimmed baking sheet with heavy-duty aluminum foil, and broil orange halves, cut sides up, until charred, 2 to 3 minutes.
