Does your Halloween party snack lineup look a little ghoulish? Feel a little lifeless? Do you need something spooktacular to help raise it from the dead? If the situation seems grave, let us help—with a graveyard full of brownies! These fun treats are sure to float off once your little ghouls and goblins get ahold of them.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, cut into pieces, plus more for baking pan
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour, spooned and leveled
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. kosher salt
  • 8 oz. semisweet or bittersweet chocolate, chopped
  • 1 1/4 cups sugar
  • 3 large eggs
  • 12 chocolate Milano cookies, 1/3 cut off of one end of each cookie Black food-safe marker or royal icing

  • 10 Oreo Thins cookies, crushed

Directions

    1. Step 1Preheat oven to 350°F. Butter a 9- by 9-inch baking pan. Line with parchment paper, leaving a 2-inch overhang on two sides; butter parchment. Whisk together flour, cocoa, baking powder, and salt in a bowl. 
    2. Step 2Place butter and chocolate in a heatproof bowl. Place bowl over a pot of simmering water. Cook, stirring often, until melted; remove bowl from heat. Add sugar and stir to combine. Add eggs and stir to combine. Add flour mixture and stir to combine. Transfer to prepared pan. Bake until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean, 50 to 55 minutes. Cool in pan on a wire rack 15 minutes. Use parchment to lift brownies from pan. Cool completely. Cut into 12 2- by 3-inch rectangles. 
    3. Step 3Decorate Milano cookies with marker or icing to look like headstones. Make a small slit toward one thin end of each brownie. Insert one cookie into each slit. Sprinkle brownies with crushed cookies.
