We make this divine Italian classic with fresh mozzarella and hand-torn basil leaves.

Ingredients

  • 2 Tbsp. cornmeal
  • 1 recipe Thin Crust Pizza Dough
  • 1 cup tomato sauce
  • 1 1/2 cups sliced fresh mozzarella
  • 5 fresh basil leaves, torn

Directions

    1. Step 1Heat oven to 500°F. Sprinkle cornmeal over pizza peel or 2 baking pans.
    2. Step 2Divide dough in half; shape into 2 balls. Roll dough on a floured surface using a floured rolling pin to 12-inch rounds and transfer to the prepared pans.
    3. Step 3Spread with tomato sauce and top with mozzarella. Bake until crust is golden and crisp, about 15 minutes. Scatter with basil leaves and serve.

Save time: You can also buy fresh or frozen dough at the grocery store. If you buy frozen, thaw in the refrigerator overnight and remove 30 minutes before rolling.
