Tim McGraw and Faith Hill have been married for 29 years and together for more than 30. All this time later, and Tim can’t help but describe his wife in one way: magic.
On February 4, Tim sat down with Tim Ferriss for his podcast, The Tim Ferriss Show, to discuss his remarkable career, his journey there, and who has been by his side from day one. Naturally, his wife, Faith, was a main topic of conversation. When asked how she influenced his career and impacted his life, Tim made it clear that she’s the secret to his success and his ability to stay grounded.
“Once I met her, I didn’t want to lose her,” Tim revealed to Tim. “She’s magic—and not just her singing and her looks and, of course, that’s all a bonus, but as a person, she’s just magic; she just lights up a room, and she lit me up, and still does.”
In the interview, Tim explained that if it weren’t for Faith, his career would not be what it is today. “I was drinking a lot—which that didn’t stop after we got married, but she beat it out of me after a while—I was just doing everything; I was a kid in a candy store, especially after I got successful,” Tim told Tim, explaining that, as someone who had come from no money, adjusting to life as a country star was eye-opening, to say the least. “When Faith came along, I was burning it wide open when we met, and she started tapping the brakes for me… I wouldn’t be the same artist had I not met her; I certainly wouldn't have the career that I’ve had, had I not met her. I would have burned out really quickly, I think.”
For Tim, one of Faith’s greatest influences on him is merely her presence—she made (and makes) him want to be a better person. After all, once he found her, he never wanted to know a life without her. “If I had lost her because of not sort of bringing myself around a little bit, then I definitely would have been in a downward spiral,” he admitted.
Tim’s transparent adoration for his wife hit listeners right in the feels. “There’s something special about seeing a man talking about the way he loves his wife,” one fan commented on Tim Ferriss’s clip from the interview. “That’s a man who knows a woman’s value, and her back to him,” another fan wrote. “I hope to have a man who talks this way about me one day,” someone else quipped. “To have your significant other talk about you this way,” another TikToker swooned. “They are such a good team, I love them,” someone else commented.
Here’s to yet another example of why Tim and Faith will always be one of country music’s most beloved couples.
