- Lainey Wilson makes her big screen debut in the new movie Reminders of Him.
- She plays Amy, who develops a friendship with the lead character, Kenna.
- Lainey attended the global premiere of the film on March 9, looking fabulous in all black.
Lainey Wilson is as country as all get out, even when she's in Hollywood. The "Somewhere Over Laredo" singer attended the premiere of the new movie Reminders of Him at Hollywood Legion Theater in Los Angeles, Calif. on Monday (March 9), wearing a stunning, all-black lace jumpsuit with a long tail. The Western flair of her shimmery feather earrings brought the look together.
Reminders of Him is Lainey's big-screen film debut. She plays the role of Amy, a friend of the main character, Kenna Rowan, who’s fresh out of prison and hoping to shift the perspective of folks in her town who still judge her for past wrongdoings. She's also working to reunite with her young daughter and mend that relationship.
As for Lainey’s Amy, she works at a local grocery store and helps her new friend Kenna get on her feet, landing her a position at the store. She's also there to lend an empathetic ear to someone who can really use it.
"My first feature film I've been involved in, and this incredible team welcomed me into their world with open arms. It was an honor to play a small part," Lainey writes on Instagram alongside a series of photos from the event.
Directed by Vanessa Caswill, Reminders of Him is based on the 2022 Colleen Hoover novel of the same name. It's in theaters nationwide this Friday, March 13.
Though this is Lainey's big-screen debut, it's not her first time in front of a camera. Her quick ascent in mainstream country music — okay, and her charming personality — scored her a role in the ultra-popular Taylor Sheridan series Yellowstone, and she's shown off her acting chops in more than a few music videos, notably Hardy's cinematic "Wait in the Truck." She even hosted "Country Music's Biggest Night," the CMA Awards, last fall — one of just three women ever to host it solo.
The multi-time Entertainer of the Year winner is a Jill of all trades, you could say.
As she has grown from up-and-coming country singer Lainey Wilson to entertainer/actress Lainey Wilson, saying she’s “busy” is a wild understatement. On the personal side, she's engaged to marry Devlin “Duck” Hodges, though it’s not clear when they'll say their "I dos."
“I need some help,” Lainey joked to People at the Reminders of Him red carpet event. “It's going good. Honestly, we're taking our time, and I've told him, and he's on the same page.”
There's also that music career: She has concert appearances planned in every month from now through the end of August. A new documentary about all of it, Lainey Wilson: Keepin' Country Cool, was even picked up by Netflix (look for it in April), so this won't be the last time we see her onscreen. Rumor has it she's working on a cameo on the hit sitcom Leanne — she was photographed on the set with the series' star as she was filming Season 2, due out later this year.
“Can't Sit Still” is Lainey's appropriately titled new song.
