Labrador Retrievers, German Shepherds and Staffordshire Bull Terriers are among the most lovable dog breeds that adore snuggles.

According to canine behaviourist, Kamal Fernandez, some pups are more affectionate than others. While all dogs make wonderful companions, these breeds are known for thriving off love and affection.

Taking the top spot is the popular Labrador Retriever, famed for their love and loyalty. "Labradors are known for their sensitive and affectionate nature," Kamal told The MailOnline. "They're great with other pets and children, and thrive when they feel like a member of the family. It's their natural instinct to love and protect their own."

Other dogs that are particularly fond of cuddles include Golden Retrievers, Springer Spaniels and Hungarian Vizslas. "They are gentle, very affectionate, sensitive," adds Kamal. "They will cuddle as often as possible. It's said that having a vizsla is like having a shadow because they love to be close and follow you around."

Chihuahua owners will be pleased to know that these pups also made the list, mainly because they love to be stroked, carried and hugged. "Although, they can pick favourites and will be most affectionate towards those they feel closest to," says Kamal.
