Fans were grief-stricken when Riley Green’s Marshals character, Garrett, was killed off after just five episodes—especially because he and Andrea Cruz (Ash Santos) were starting to really hit it off. While Riley can’t resurrect his character in the series, he chose to do the next best thing—and fans loved every second.
On Thursday, July 23, during his Cowboy As It Gets Tour stop at Utah First Credit Union Amphitheatre in West Valley City, Riley went full Marshals mode and welcomed Ash onstage for a mid-show Duck Club Bourbon toast.
“Duckin’ good time last night,” Ash captioned an Instagram Story, thanking Riley for “the best show.”
Meanwhile, on Friday, July 24, Ash’s boyfriend, Jordan LaMotte Pendleton, took to Instagram to share snaps from the night, which included not only Ash’s time onstage, but a pre-show hang at Riley’s Duck Blind pop-up. “We Ducked Around and Found Out,” Jordan captioned the carousel of photos.
Riley’s stint on Marshals lasted just five episodes and ended with him passing away from injuries sustained from Kayce’s barn fire. While some fans were glad to see the country heartthrob cut from the Yellowstone spinoff, many others were unshakably disappointed. "We had people on our crew who were so upset with [showrunner] Spencer [Hudnut] for weeks when they got that episode," Ash told PEOPLE following the episode. She also revealed that Riley had hoped to have a longer character arc in the series. "He joked, he was like, 'Damn, I was really hoping I'd stick around longer,' and we were like, 'With your schedule? You're always at some concert,'" she said in the interview.
Riley will be returning to a TV screen near you soon when he joins The Voice this fall, but we wouldn’t be surprised if he pops up in yet another must-watch series soon. Until then, we’ll be rewatching Marshals and keeping an eye on Instagram for clips from tour.
