To help you find the perfect place to retire in the UK, Howden Insurance has revealed the most popular locations amongst pensioners right now.

Pendle came out on top, with an overall rating of 80.93. Nestled between the Lancashire boroughs of Burnley and the Ribble Valley, residents noted the area for its picturesque landscapes, historical buildings, and the number of key services like hospitals and doctor's practices.

Hyndburn and Stoke-on-Trent closely followed, also offering historical landmarks, open green spaces and picturesque towns. Newcastle-under-Lyme took the fourth spot, with an overall rating of 67.33 and a crime rate of 78.36 per 1,000 people.

Factors the researchers looked at include overall satisfaction rating, the typical cost of a home in each area, local crime rate, proximity to parks, and distance to essential facilities.
