- Sabrina Carpenter headlined Coachella last weekend.
- The singer pulled out all the stops for her performance.
- She included Hollywood legend Sam Elliott in the show.
Coachella and Country Living might not seem like the likeliest of pairs, but after Sabrina Carpenter’s iconic cameo-filled Weekend One performance, we’d be remiss not to share it with our readers.
On Friday, April 10, Sabrina headlined the country’s largest music festival, wowing a reported crowd of more than 100,000. As popular as Sabrina is in her own right, she made her headlining set even more memorable with a bevy of celebrity cameos, including one by none other than Mr. Sam Elliott himself.
Sabrina opened her legendary set with a black-and-white short depicting herself on the way to Coachella. In the skit, she was cruising along in a vintage Cadillac with a Dalmatian curled up by her side when sirens started flashing in her rearview. When she pulled over, Sam Elliott exited his police cruiser and sauntered up to her window—not because she was in trouble with the law, but because she looked out of place and he was curious where she was headed. When she said “California,” he warned, “It’s not right out there,” in his signature Western drawl.
Considering Coachella attracts large crowds of millennial and Gen Z attendees, not everyone knew who the police officer was in Sabrina’s skit. Take this TikToker, for instance, who thought the officer was “so scary.” Thankfully, the Internet did its thing, and swarms of fans retorted to their claim. “You mean the hottest man alive, Sam Elliott,” one TikToker exclaimed. “She got Sam Elliot!? Omg she knows ball,” someone else remarked. “I need her back in acting right now,” another fan commented, referencing her past career as a Disney star. “People not knowing who Sam Elliot is TRULY is frying my brain,” another TikToker wrote.
The Landman actor wasn’t the only surprising guest appearance in Sabrina’s set. The 26-year-old pop star also brought out Susan Sarandon and Will Ferrell, and featured a voice-over from Samuel L. Jackson. All in all, it was an outstanding and unexpected set that will be hard to top.
