Reba McEntire is one of the most popular sitcom moms and grandmas of the past 20 years, and now, she’s going to be a real-life nana for the eighth time—but this time, the little one on the way will be her first biological grandchild.
On Wednesday, April 15, Reba’s son, Shelby Blackstock, whom she shares with her ex-husband Narvel Blackstock, announced with his wife, Marissa Blackstock, that they’re expecting a little boy.
“Oh, BOY! We’re beyond excited to FINALLY announce our little man is coming in October. See ya real soon, pal! Mommy + Daddy love you,” Marissa captioned a carousel of adorable shots from their pregnancy announcement photoshoot at Disney World.
The couple’s big news comes following an emotional 4-year journey with IVF. “The love, messages, prayers, and support from friends and this community have been overwhelming in the best way,” Marissa posted on Instagram back in January, announcing her second round of IVF. “I wish I could thank every single person personally. Just know we feel it, and we’re so grateful. Infertility is hard, but we don’t feel alone.”
Marissa and Shelby’s followers, including some of Reba’s famous pals, couldn’t be more thrilled for the couple, nor more appreciative of their transparency about the IVF process. “Yes!!!!! I am so happy for you both,” Reba and Happy’s Place actress Melissa Peterman exclaimed on Instagram, along with a thread of exclamation points and over a dozen hearts. “The most incredible news! Beyond thrilled for you two,” Reba and Sweet Magnolias actress JoAnna Garcia Swisher chimed in, with two blue hearts. “Yay!!!! Congrats,” actress Tracey Bregman commented. “So VERY excited and happy for you both! A long-awaited prayer and blessing! Congratulations,” one Instagrammer added. “I was just thinking of you both today and wondering how you both were doing after all you went through on this journey to become parents. Congratulations,” another fan remarked.
